Moreland Baptist AWANA Club is held from 6:30 to 8:00 PM every Wednesday night from September through April.

AWANA is an international youth program based in the Chicago area that acts as a youth ministry program to reach kids of all ages with the Gospel of Christ. Over 25,000 churches around the world take part in AWANA and have helped to bring kids closer to Christ since its humble formation 62 years ago.

A typical night of AWANA is broken into three parts:

Game Time: Where kids get to play fun games to build teamwork. Also, kids who've passed a certain amount of handbook sections are eligible to compete in the AWANA Games, which are like the Olympics for AWANA. Unique to the AWANA Games is the Game Square, which is their game arena.

Handbook Time: Where kids learn memory verses and pass handbook sections. The kids learn verses centered around how to know and follow God, as well as how to share Him with others. They earn special awards for passing sections and finishing books and are able to qualify for Bible quizzing competitions against AWANA clubs in the area.

Council Time: Where kids and leaders gather for songs, a Bible lesson each night, and a chance to learn more about God's love.

The goal of AWANA is to give kids the chance to know, love, and serve God themselves - and to have fun doing it! We hope to see you there!

Puggles is for 2- and 3-year olds.

Cubbies is for preschoolers

Sparks is for grades K - 2nd

T & T is for grades 3-6

Although there is AWANA curriculum for Junior and Senior high, we do not currently have that curriculum in our own club. However, students in grades 7-12 are invited to join the Moreland Baptist Youth Group on Sunday nights from 5-6:30 PM.

Awana Games

Coming soon... to a church near you!

Awana games will be Friday, Feb. 23th, 2018 starting at 6:00pm at Christ Wesleyan Church in Milton.

As we prepare for the new Awana year, we also prepare for another year of the Awana Games and Sparks-a-Rama.

All Sparks and T&Ts that have completed 10 sections by a designated time during the club year will be eligible to take part in this event. This year, we hope to have a full team from Moreland! But if we don't, we'll combine forces with another church in the area's clubbers to make a full team.

For Sparks, a full team is 10-17 members, and at least 3 of them must be boys and at least 3 of them must be girls. For T&Ts, a full team is 10-16 members, and no more than half of the team may be 5-6 graders. The team needs to have a minimum of 5 boys and 5 girls to play in all events.

So what do you say? Can we build ourselves a team? If you are interested in taking part in the Awana Games and Sparks-a-Rama, have your parents contact the Awana commanders.

Grand Prix

Clubbers… start your engines!

It's time again for the annual Awana Grand Prix at Moreland Baptist!
The Awana Grand Prix is a Pinewood-Derby-style racing event with a 50-year track record of fun and excitement.

But wait… there's more! The Grand Prix is more than just building a race car! It's also spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ, encouraging parent/child interaction, craftsmanship, and learning good sportsmanship. And let's face it… building the car and racing it is fun!

The Grand Prix race will be held in February, as has become the tradition for our club. Clubbers will get to pick 1 of 3 styles of precut cars to decorate (pickup truck, stock car, or indy car). Cars will be raced at the final event, as well as judged for style and creativity.

Grand Prix Calendar of Events:

October 4 - Work night (painting, sanding, decorating cars, etc)

November 1 - Work night (painting, sanding, decorating cars, etc)

January 3 - Work night (painting, sanding, decorating cars, etc)

February 7 - Work night (painting, sanding, decorating cars, etc)

February 28 - RACE NIGHT!!!! - Please bring canned goods this night to donate to Son Light House

*On work nights, cars will be worked on during clubbers' game time - the rest of the club night will run as usual.
** Clubbers must be present night of race in order for their car to be eligible for the races. Cars will not be raced if clubber is not present.

Congratulations to Kaitlyn and Lindsey for taking part in the Awana Games this year! Both the T&Ts and Sparks teams placed 3rd. We are so proud of them for the great job they did!!!
